Gun Lake Tribe hires Public Information Director
Shelbyville, Mich. july 23, 2024 – Gun Lake Tribal Council, (the Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians) is pleased to announce that Cean Burgeson joined Tribal government in the role of Public Information Director on July 8, 2024. In his role, Burgeson is responsible for managing and coordinating the various public affairs programs of the Gun Lake Tribe, along with handling internal communications and media relations.
Burgeson has more than 30 years of experience in communications, most recently in global corporate communications for Whirlpool Corporation. He also worked in various Tribal business operations during his career. Formerly, he was communications administrator for Little River Casino Resort in Manistee, Michigan during their early growth and expansion, later becoming the public relations and communications manager for Cache Creek Casino Resort in Brooks, California, a 400,000-square-foot luxury resort, spa, golf course and casino. Through his own consulting company, Burgeson was a key player for the Habematolel Pomo Tribe on their communications and marketing strategy and execution when they launched Running Creek Casino in Upper Lake, California.
A native of metro Detroit, Burgeson earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University in Pre-Law, followed by a Master of Arts degree in Communications, specializing in media.

The Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indians (Gun Lake Tribe) has a rich history in West Michigan and close connection to the land. The Bradley Indian Mission, located near Wayland, is the historic residential and cultural center point of the tribal community.
