Caretaking Collections Workshop

This October, we will kick off our bimonthly “Caretaking Collections” workshop series with our first workshop focusing on wooden materials. Staff will have wooden materials for participants to use, or participants are welcome to bring their own wooden materials to learn more about caring and preserving them for long-time use or display! This opportunity will allow participants to gain hands on experience caring for materials, but it will also be an excellent time to share your knowledge and teachings about caring for our wooden materials. Wooden materials can take many forms, each with their own caretaking needs. Outside of our baskets, the Tribe’s Collections has a very small number of wooden objects, primarily wooden spoons. However, while taking care of the wooden materials from the Collections, let’s also get our feast bundles and new Gathering swag, like our wooden bowls and spoons, cleaned up and ready for fall activities.

On October 29 beginning at 4:00 p.m., THPO Staff will host an in-person workshop in coordination with the Education and Language
