Housing Department Mission

To provide Tribal families with housing assistance opportunities while promoting a healthy living environment, creating a sense of community and building economic self-sufficiency.

About the Housing Department

The Match-E-Be-Nash-She-Wish Band of Pottawatomi Indian Housing Department’s goal is to carry out the Department’s mission statement by offering Housing Assistance Programs to Tribal Citizens of all income levels. This includes the rental of Tribally-owned dwelling units, Down Payment Assistance, Housing Improvement, HOOP, IDA, Principal Pay Down, Rental Assistance including funding for full time students seeking higher education and a Water & Sewer/Sanitation Improvement Program. These programs are coupled with Housing and Financial Education, for groups and individually, whichever best suit the Citizen's needs.

The Housing Department is governed by the Gun Lake Tribal Council along with a three-person Housing Committee comprised of Tribal Citizens.
