Call for Submissions for the Community Art Project

To be displayed in the Gun Lake Casino’s Hotel Lobby

As part of the artwork for the lobby at the hotel, we are creating a large assemblage of wooden blocks (approximately 4 inches by 4 inches) utilizing native tree species. While some of the blocks will remain blank, featuring the natural wood grain, many of the blocks will be decorated with images that pertain to the Gun Lake Tribe.

It is important to us that we include our entire Tribal community, regardless of whether you consider yourself an Artist. This project is open to any Citizens interested in participating and is expected to evolve over time as artwork is added. The community art project will consist of individual square wooden blocks (approximately 4 inches by 4 inches) placed to create a wooden mosaic art installation. Each individual wooden block will have Citizens’ submissions printed on them and would allow participants to feature drawn or photographic portraits of themselves, family members, floral designs, applique designs, animal motifs or other images/subjects you believe would represent the Tribe well. We encourage you to show your unique creativity!
